PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plunger type injection cylinder for an injection molding machine in which the kneading property for a molten resin is enhanced and the injection performance is improved. SOLUTION: A torpedo 5 is arranged rotatably in a nozzle 3 and is rotated by a driving unit 6 to linearly move the plunger 4. The driving unit 6 comprises a female screw body 22 constituting the plunger 4, a rotary shaft 33 connected to the torpedo 5, a male screw body 36 provided on the rotary shaft 33 and engaged with the female screw body 22 and a motor 39 for driving the male screw body 36. The female screw body 22 is rotated while being restricted by a guide hole 16 of the cylinder 2 and a guide roller 25 an the cylinder 2 is linearly driven with the transmission of the rotation of the male screw body 36.
