<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a multi-phase electric motor, detecting a current value even if a predetermined phase current cannot be detected in an original current detection period due to a change in switching state before and after phase shift. <P>SOLUTION: The controller includes a switching state determining means for determining whether or not the switching state of a drive means changes before and after phase shift by a phase shift means in a current detection period; and a current detection period changing means for changing the current detection period when the switching state determining means determines that the switching state changes.
