PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform operation control of peripheral devices by effectively using an image display means without extending a substrate for control nor using a connection means such as a harness. SOLUTION: A display unit (image display apparatus) 5 is provided with a liquid crystal display (image display means) 30 having an image display area (unshielded area) 30a and a shielded area 30b, an instruction display section 30c provided in the shielded area 30b, and a photodetecting element (display detector) 7 that detects the display on the instruction display section 30c.
