MAGNETIC VISCOUS FLUID AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic viscous fluid that achieves a small device having a narrow gap. SOLUTION: The magnetic viscous fluid contains magnetic particles including nanosized magnetizable metal nanoparticles and a dispersion medium which disperses the magnetic particles. Each of the magnetic particles has an oxide film and a surface modified layer of a predetermined thickness which are formed by subjecting the magnetic particle formed by an arc plasma method to surface modification by a coupling agent in the gas phase.
