PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a humidifying element capable of being produced industrially, having continuous pores, jointly equipping a long term lasting property of water-absorbing function and a bio-compatibility, and excellent in discoloration resistance, moldability, impact resistance, mechanical strength and dimensional stability on absorbing water, and a humidifier by using the same. SOLUTION: This humidifying element is constituted by a porous material which is a calcined material of polyolefin resin particles, and also holds a copolymer of 2-methacryloyloxyethylphosphocholine with a specific ethylenically unsaturated group-containing monomer at the inner wall of the pores.
