PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulation and sound-absorbing material that is lightweight and excellent in sound-absorbing characteristics, and particularly a heat insulation and sound-absorbing material that is useful for the reduction and the improvement of fuel consumption of aircraft and that is most suitable for the application to aircraft. SOLUTION: This heat insulation and sound-absorbing material, which includes non-thermoplastic polyimide fibers having at least curved portions, utilizes an fiber assembly whose bulk density is 1.0 to 10.0 kg/m<SP>3</SP>.
