PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To converts Kanjis which are difficult to be read into easy-to-read characters to be displayed when they are used when characters are displayed on a picture of a display device since there is the case that the Kanjis which are difficult to be read are used when an electronic program table is displayed by a broadcast receiver. SOLUTION: The display device is provided with: a character data storage means 18 for storing character data to be displayed; a Kanji-Kana conversion table 19 which stores Kana candidates to be converted by being associated with a specific Kanji; a Kanji-Kana conversion setting information means 20 for storing set conditions of Kanji-Kana conversion; a Kanji-Kana conversion means 17 for performing Kanji-Kana conversion processing based on the character data stored in the character data storage means 18, the Kana candidates stored in the Kanji-Kana conversion table 19, and the conditions of the Kanji-Kana conversion stored in the Kanji-Kana conversion setting information means 20; and display means 7, 8 for displaying the characters to which the conversion processing is performed by the Kanji-Kana conversion means 17 on a screen 9.
