PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus and a document reading position adjusting program, in which deviation of a document reading position can be adjusted. SOLUTION: When counting of a main scan counter reaches a main scan start counter value after a Line Start signal is generated, a Line Sync signal is generated, a pixel counter starts counting, a density of a pixel corresponding to an image signal is compared with a predictive value, a first pixel of which the density becomes greater than the predictive value is determined as a pixel at a highest document position, and the main scan counter value is stored. When counting of a sub scan counter reaches a sub scan start counter value, a Page Sync signal is generated, an average value of densities for each line is calculated, the line density average value is compared with a predictive value, a first line of which the line density average value becomes greater than the predictive value is determined as a line at a left-most document position, and the sub scan counter value is stored.
