PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve the following problem: simultaneously driving many motors in a multifunction printer increases power consumption too much to cause a design failure due to excessive software load of motor control processing. SOLUTION: In the multifunction printer provided with an image reader and a serial image recording device, a motor of the image reader is driven only during image recording.
