PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which is flexible and is capable of achieving composition processing of high freedom degree. SOLUTION: The digital camera includes: a photographing means which photographs a subject to output a digital image; an image memory 16 where the digital image outputted from the photographing means is stored; a template storage means 21 where reference template images to be composed with a photographic image is stored; a template selection means which selects a desired template among reference templates in the template storage means; a subject detection means which detects a prescribed subject from within the digital image; a composition template generation means which generates a template composition by automatically editing the reference template selected in accordance with the number of partial image areas including the subject detected by the subject detection means, their sizes, and their positions in the photographic image; a template composing means which performs composition processing of digital image data and composition template data; and a storage control means which stores composite image data composed by the template composing means, into the image memory.
