PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display etc., that enables higher quality display inexpensively in a low-temperature environment. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display comprises an LCD, a backlight for lighting the LCD from behind, a (S2) sensor detecting temperature of the LCD or its ambient temperature, and a control part which turns on the backlight (S7) and brings the LCD in a black display state (S8) when the temperature sensor detects the temperature being lower than predetermined temperature (S3).
