PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tooth plane-treating agent for dentistry, keeping ability for dissolving and removing a smear layer equal to or more than a liquid medicine while being a gel- or paste-shaped preparation facilitating the application to a site to which the application is difficult by a conventional liquid medicine, and having operability superior to that of a tooth plane-treating agent by a conventional technique. SOLUTION: The tooth plane-treating agent for the dentistry contains 15-30 mass% of a chelating agent comprising an aminocarboxylic acid and 1-12 mass% of propylene glycol alginate as a thickener, and has a pH value of≥7.0 and <8.5.
