METHOD OF PRODUCING SYNTHETIC QUARTZ POWDER AND GLASS MOLDING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing high purity and high quality synthetic quartz powder, and a glass molding formed by melting and molding the synthetic quartz powder and reduced in bubble inclusion. SOLUTION: This method of producing the synthetic quartz powder comprises heat treating silica gel with an average particle diameter of 10-500μm at 1,000°C or higher for 10-50 hours in an oxygen-containing atmosphere, thereafter the obtained synthetic quartz powder is brought into contact with helium gas. The glass molding is obtained by melting and molding the synthetic quartz powder produced by the production method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
