PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle positioning system and a navigation apparatus, shortening an initial positioning time, while assuring high convenience and high versatility. SOLUTION: The vehicle positioning system includes: a carrier position detecting apparatus 10 which is mounted on a carrier 2 carrying a vehicle 3 and detects the current position of the carrier 2; and a short-range wireless communication apparatus 20 which is mounted on the carrier 2 and transmits information of a carrier position detected by the carrier position detecting apparatus 10. The navigation apparatus 30 includes: a transceiver 42 for receiving the information of the carrier position from the short-range wireless communication apparatus 20 mounted on the carrier 2; and a controller 38 for correcting the current position, to the position represented by the information of the carrier position, based on the reception of the transceiver 42 regarding the information of the carrier position.
