PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound transmitting device in which a receiver can be made compact so as to be attached to a user and that outputs sound easily heard by the user wearing the receiver. SOLUTION: The sound transmitting device includes a transmitter 1 for modulating a sound signal from acoustic equipment T to an infrared signal and transmitting it, and a receiver 2 for receiving the infrared signal from the transmitter 1 and demodulating it to a sound signal. The receiver 2 includes a light receiving section 6 for receiving the infrared signal from the transmitter 1, an attachment section 16 for attaching it near the bosom of the user, and a speaker 10 to output sound toward the user. While the receiver 2 is attached by the attachment section 16, the light receiving section 6 is located on the front surface and the speaker 10 is located on the upper surface with an inclination toward the user.
