PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system for an vending machine, capable of excellently performing illumination by use of LEDs though can use a structure for a conventional lighting system using a fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: The lighting system has: sockets 12 for the fluorescent lamp disposed in prescribed positions; and an LED light emission unit 15 having an LED board 14 installed with the plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) 13. The LED light emission unit 15 includes terminal-like protrusions 16 each engaging with the socket 12 for the fluorescent lamp in a shape similar to a fluorescent lamp terminal, and making the LED light emission unit 15 be supported by the sockets 12 for the fluorescent lamp. Thereby, by engaging the terminal-like protrusions 16 of the LED light emission unit 15 with the sockets 12 for the fluorescent lamp and installing it, the LED illumination by the LED light emission unit 15 can be achieved while the LED light emission unit 15 is supported by the sockets 12 for the fluorescent lamp while using the sockets 12 for the fluorescent lamp, a commodity sample, and a commodity shelf or the like similar to before.
