PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bank density control method which controls the degree of compaction of a bank with high accuracy and in real time irrespective of the form of the bank. SOLUTION: The bank density control method is composed of: a mass computing step of measuring a water content of a bank material, and computing a mass of the bank material necessary for forming a compaction layer by using the water content; a base surface form measuring step of measuring a ground surface form before leveling the bank material, as a base surface form; a compacted form measuring step of leveling the bank material having the computed mass in a predetermined range, compacting the bank material to a predetermined degree by a compaction machine, and thereafter measuring a surface form of the compaction layer by a three dimensional body measuring means, as the compaction form; and a bank density evaluation step of computing the density of the compaction layer by using the compacted form, the surface form, and the mass of the bank material, obtained in the mass computing step, and evaluating whether or not the density of the compacted bank has reached a predetermined value.
