PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video information reproducing apparatus which is not able to reproduce video, unless it does not perform a prescribed authentication. SOLUTION: The video information reproducing apparatus includes a video information reproducing part 13 for reproducing video information stored in a video information storage medium, a storage part 16 having first authentication information stored therein, and a control part 15 for controlling the operation of the video information reproducing part 13. The video information reproducing part 13 reads second authentication information, stored in a prescribed authentication information storage medium, and the control part 15 will allow the video information reproducing part 13 to reproduce the video information, only when the first authentication information and the second authentication information agrees with each other.
