PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial 4-cylinder internal combustion engine capable of adequately suppressing the occurrence of beating sound resulting from a collision between a crank journal and a bearing body while adopting a bearing structure including bearing bodies mutually different in a load capacity. SOLUTION: In this serial 4-cylinder internal combustion engine, a bearing with an oil groove for circulating a lubricating oil from an engine body 10 in a circumferential direction formed in its inner circumferential surface is used as a first bearing 51, a second bearing 52, a third bearing 53, and a fifth bearing 55, and moreover, a bearing without such oil groove in its inner circumferential surface is used as a forth bearing 54. Thus, the load capacity of the forth bearing 54 is kept larger than that of the first bearing 51, the second bearing 52, the third bearing 53, and the fifth bearing 55. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
