PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting method of a sheet-like member capable of precisely connecting end parts of the sheet-like members made of unvulcanized rubber, etc. to each other by eliminating variations while maintaining high productivity. SOLUTION: An upstream sensor S3 and a downstream sensor S4 are arranged with a connecting position J interposed therebetween, a target position G is set in the vicinity of the downstream sensor S4, the sheet-like member R2 of a prescribed length is carried at low speed until the downstream sensor S3 detects a front end part of the sheet-like member R2 after it is carried at high speed, the front end part of the sheet-like member R2 is connected to a rear end part of the sheet-like member R1 carried in advance by positioning the front end part of the sheet-like member R2 at the connecting position J by changing the low speed to lower second low speed after this detection, thereafter, the sheet-like member R2 is returned at the low speed until the downstream sensor S4 detects the rear end part of the sheet-like member R2 after the sheet-like member R2 is returned at the high speed, and the rear end part of the sheet-like member R2 is positioned at the target position G by changing the low speed to the lower second low speed after this detection.
