The invention relates to a method for measuring the development of a deposit on a surface in contact with a fluid, in which a current proportional to the fluid conductivity is generated by a first pair of electrodes (1, 4) connected to an alternating voltage generator (5), wherein a potential difference (?Vref) between a second pair of electrodes (2, 3) provided between the first pair of electrodes is maintained constant by correcting the voltage supplied by the generator, said method comprising: determining a calibration of the voltage applied to the first pair of electrodes based on the conductivity and before the development of a deposit; measuring the voltage applied to the first pair of electrodes after a development of the deposit for a given conductivity; comparing the voltage measured (?Ue) with a calibration value (?Up) for said conductivity; and generating a deposit development signal (IND) based on said comparison.
