MINIATURE PROTEIN AND CRYSTAL THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniature protein capable of forming a specific three-dimensional steric structure (hairpin structure) similar to chignolin which is a known miniature protein, having excellent thermal stability compared with chignolin and enabling crystallization and to provide a fusion protein containing the miniature protein.

SOLUTION: Provided is a protein containing an amino acid sequence expressed by following formula 1, wherein the region corresponding to the formula 1 has a steric structure defined by a specific atomic coordinate or a steric structure having a root mean square deviation (RMSD) of ≤5 Å from the coordinate of the main chain. Formula 1: XaaTyrAspProGluThrGlyThrTrpXbb. In the formula, Xaa and Xbb are each an arbitrary amino acid residue other than Gly and Ala; and the carboxyl group may be amidated when Xbb is a C-terminal.
