PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of the accident of pinching a toe between a protective plate device provided at an elevator car and a floor surface of an elevator entrance, and reduce wind noise and annoyance noise caused by the protective plate device. SOLUTION: This protective plate device of the elevator includes a protective plate 13 provided at a lower part of an elevator car on a surface side and extended downward making one surface face an inner wall surface 1a on the surface side of an elevator hoistway 1, and a rotating body 14 attached to a lower edge part of the protective plate 13 and rotating around a turning center along a lateral width direction of the protective plate 13. The rotating body 14 has a first surface part 14a extending along the lateral width direction of the protective plate 13 and extending in an upper and lower direction, and a second surface part 14b extending along the lateral width direction of the protective plate 13 and slanting upward from the lower edge part of the first surface part 14a toward the center side of the elevator hoistway 1.
