PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slinging work auxiliary device capable of improving safety in slinging a cargo with a wire and safely and speedily carrying out transportation work by a crane. SOLUTION: This slinging work auxiliary device used in hoisting the lengthy cargo P by raising a crane hook F after slinging the cargo P with the wire W includes a hoisting width holding mechanism 10 to erect the wire W vertically or in a state nearly vertically at a hoisting portion P1 of the cargo P at a stage to sling the hoisting portion P1 of the cargo P with the wire W and to put the wire W along a line L connecting a part of the crane hook F and the hoisting portion P1 of the cargo P at a stage to hoist the cargo P by raising the crane hook F.
