PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for predicting and estimating the enzymatic decomposability and microbial decomposability of a biodegradable resin, more concretely a polycaprolactone (PCL) resin, by Raman spectrum measurement. SOLUTION: Specimens having different enzymatic decomposability can be produced by controlling a biodegradable resin from a molten state under different cooling conditions. These specimens are subjected to enzymatic decomposition experiment with lipase to estimate the enzymatic decomposability and to an instrumental analysis by Raman spectrum analysis. A correlation is found between the enzymatic decomposability and the Raman spectrum. Accordingly, a material controlling method to give more efficient enzymatic decomposability is provided and the enzymatic decomposability and microbial decomposability can be estimated in advance.
