The invention relates to a direct current machine, particularly a direct current motor (10) for use in a motor vehicle, having a stator (18), a rotor (20) that is pivot-supported in a pole housing (12), comprising a commutator (24), and having a brush carrier (28) substantially made of plastic for attaching at least two brushes (26) and additional components (30,31;32). According to the invention, the brush carrier (28) contains measures for improving the electromagnetic compatibility (EMV) of the machine by a suitable embodiment of the brush carrier (28) itself, and a separate arrangement of the brushes (26) and of the suppressor components (31,32;32) on the brush carrier.
