A low cost "modular" slot less track design for use with remote digitally operated vehicles, which derive there power from the electrically polarised track surface by means of spring contact shoes. The electrically polarised surface is fabricated using ferromagnetic strips (1) which run in parallel to the primary direction of motion of the intending vehicles, thereby facilitating simple mechanical and electrical interconnection between adjacent track segments (5) by means of male/female elements (6) on just two sides only, and which further facilitates a continuation of the magnetic flux generated between magnet/s, as used on the vehicles chassis for increased road- holding, and the ferromagnetic strip/s thereby maintaining proper steer control and eliminating possible "magnetic drag" whilst the vehicle/s maintain lane.discipline. Direction change is facilitated by using track segments with varying radii and thereby also facilitating a continuous looped track layout to be generated. Containment of the vehicles on the track is facilitated by means of barrier strips which are retained by grooves (4) in the extremities of the track segments. |
