PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient operation method of a radio communication base station in a communication system using a cognitive radio (CR) technology. SOLUTION: An operation method of a radio communication base station is provided, including the steps of: transmitting a basic pilot signal to at least one terminal located in a coverage of a preoccupied system; and transmitting a cognitive radio (CR) pilot signal having a signal pattern, wherein the at least one CR terminal on a CR communication system is characterized in receiving the CR pilot signal and sensing a frequency spectrum being used by the preoccupied system from the signal pattern.
