PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bind a paper bundle with a binding component using a single drive source and to easily return from an emergency stop state of a device after the occurrence of a power failure or paper jam. SOLUTION: A paper processing device includes: a position setting section 413 for setting the position of a main body of a binding mechanism 41; a binding component-gripping section 41b for holding the binding component 43 stored in a cartridge 42; and a power transmission mechanism 416 for transmitting a driving force to an engagement section 414 that fits the binding component 43 held by the binding component gripping section 41b into the paper bundle 3", wherein the power transmission mechanism 416 receives torque from a binding mechanism drive motor 45a.
