PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device in which the size of a capacitance component formed between a lower electrode and an upper electrode can be made proper, and to provide an electronic apparatus equipped with the liquid crystal device. SOLUTION: The FFS (Fringe Field Switching) type liquid crystal device 100 has a plurality of slits 7b for fringe electric field formation formed on the upper pixel electrode 7a, and the lower common electrode 9a is present in a region overlapping the plurality of slits 7b. The lower common electrode 9a has an opening portion 9b formed in a region overlapping the upper pixel electrode 7a, so the area where the common electrode 9a and pixel electrode 7a overlap with each other is narrower corresponding to the formed opening portion 9b. Therefore, the capacitance component C2 formed at the part where the pixel electrode 7a and common electrode 9a faces each other with an insulating film 8 interposed is small.
