PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal material, in particular a metal sheet favorably used in a food can for drinks, fruit, etc. or a metal can, constituent member such as can lid, cap, etc. and also to provide a metal can formed with the described metal sheet in such a manner that its surface covered with the laminate film lies on the inside, thereby suppressing corrosion of the metal can when it is filled with a drink containing sulfites and allowing a long period of preservation. SOLUTION: The metal sheet covered with laminate film is structured so that a film F1 having a dry film thickness of 0.1-5μm and a resin film F2 having a thickness of 1-30μm are laminated on metal material, wherein the film F1 is formed by coating metal material with a resin liquid A having such a structure that a resol type phenol resin a1 and an acrylic series copolymer resin a2 whose glass transition temperature is 100-180°C and acid number is 150-400 mgKOH/g, are dissolved or dispersed in a solvent.
