<p>A composition for impregnating glass fibre fabrics contains a butylated urea-formaldehyde resin (20-30 per cent) in solution in a mixture of an inert volatile organic solvent, e.g. xylol and n-butanol mixture (12-22 per cent), and monomeric styrene (48-68 per cent). The solution may include mono-diethyl acid orthophosphate polymerization catalyst. It is stated that a substantial portion of the styrene remains after drying and is caused to polymerize and react with the urea-formaldehyde resin during subsequent curing.</p> |
