<p>A method, system and network device for mutual authentication. The method includes that a network device produces a checking parameter according to a public key of the opposite network device and a private key of itself. Both the public key and the private key of the network device are produced according to ID of the network device. The network device performs mutual authentication according to the checking parameter of itself and the received checking parameter sent by the opposite network device. The system includes a first network device and a second network device.</p>
