<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a region dividing method to automatically and efficiently divide a region in a complicated form cut by mesh. <P>SOLUTION: A specific node is selected as a designation node from a plurality of nodes in a mesh. The distance i of the designation node is set to be 0. An adjoining node of the designation node is searched. The distance plus 1 is made the distance of the adjoining node. A furthermore adjoining node of the adjoining node is searched. 1 is added to the distance i. Such operations are repeated till there being no undefined distance.
