<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus facilitating visual confirmation of the presence or absence of paper sheets ejected into a paper ejecting section. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the paper ejecting section 15 which is formed in the body 1 of the image forming apparatus so as to be opened in the front X1 through an open area used to take out paper and on which paper is ejected in the left and right directions Y1 and Y2 as viewed from the front X1; and an opening 17 for lightening the paper ejecting section 15. The opening 17 is an opening through which light can be introduced so as to prevent darkening of a space where the trailing end of paper ejected on the paper ejecting section 17 in the direction of paper conveyance.
