PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image printer which can prevent a carriage encoder sensor, a linear scale and a main cover from being stained with a mist. SOLUTION: Under a condition where a mist is easily generated in forming an image, the image printer controls a mist fan 109 and a carriage motor 111 by detecting with a temperature-humidity sensor 112 to prevent an abnormal image or a malfunction due to staining a carriage encoder sensor and a linear scale or to prevent the main cover from being stained. In addition, under a condition where a mist is not easily generated, a quiet sound and the like is achieved by controlling the mist fan and the carriage motor, and also an improvement of a body life and a quality is achieved.
