PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable stator of a rotating electrical machine for accurately preventing elimination of a corona shield layer due to partial discharge occurring in a boundary part between an insulating layer arranged in an outer periphery of a coil conductor and the corona shield layer with low resistance, which is disposed at an outer periphery of the insulating layer. SOLUTION: In the stator, a stator coil 3 is installed in a slot 2 of a stator core 1 while the coil is immersed and cured with thermosetting resin. An insulating tape 12 formed of mica 12a and a backing material 12b with which resin is impregnated or through which it passes is wound to an outer periphery of the coil conductor 5 for multiple layers, and an insulating layer 7 is constituted. The insulating tape 12 positioned at an outermost periphery of the insulating layer 7 confronted with the corona shield layer 8 is wound with the backing material 12b on an inner peripheral side, and the mica 12a on an outer peripheral side.
