PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser module capable of preventing the decrease in effective use efficiency of laser light. SOLUTION: An optical fiber array 40 includes three optical fibers which are an output optical fiber 46 and monitoring optical fiber 48 and 50. A ferrule 42 is fitted to one end thereof. Further, a connector 52 is fitted to the other end of the output optical fiber 46 and photodetectors 54 and 56 are fitted to the other ends of the monitoring optical fibers 48 and 50. The photodetectors 54 and 56 are connected to a control unit which performs APC control over a semiconductor LD (laser diode). Based upon laser light received by the photodetectors 54 and 56, the control unit performs the APC control over the semiconductor LD 14. Light output from an area other a light emission area of an active layer of the semiconductor LD is made incident on the monitoring optical fibers 48 and 50 for monitoring.
