PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clamp a cutting insert stably in an insert detachable type cutting tool equipped with a clamp mechanism that clamps the cutting insert by having an engaging protrusion part engage a mounting hole. SOLUTION: In the cutting tool, an insert mounting seat 2 of a tool body 1 is formed with a wall portion 2B with which the cutting insert 3 contacts. The tool body 1 is provided with a clamp member having the engaging protrusion part 9 that engages with the mounting hole 3B of the cutting insert 3 and the clamp mechanism for clamping the cutting insert 3 by relatively pressing the same to the wall portion 2B. In the cross section of the engaging protrusion part 9 perpendicularly intersecting a centerline M of the mounting hole 3B when the engaging protrusion part 9 is engaged with the mounting hole 3B, two contacting portions 9A of the engaging protrusion part 9 disposed in the direction intersecting with a pressing direction F of the cutting insert 3 are brought in contact with an inner peripheral surface of the mounting hole 3B.
