<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anisotropic diffusion medium and a light source unit using the same being optimized for respective types of (direct) backlight having different arrangements of a plurality of spot-like or linear light sources attached onto a substrate by taking the arrangements into account, and to provide a method of manufacturing them. <P>SOLUTION: The anisotropic diffusion medium has a cured resin layer having a plurality of columnar body collection regions formed by collecting a plurality of columnar bodies oriented with fixed regularity in the direction of plane of the cured resin layer. In any of a plurality of columnar body collection regions, the columnar body collection region is formed such that respective rays penetrating individual columnar bodies in the direction of long axis are focused into a focusing region separated from the plane of the cured resin layer at the destination of the rays outgoing from the cured resin layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
