<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear-shift device that excels in visibility and operability. <P>SOLUTION: The gear-shift device 1 is provided with a shift lever 5 for operating a gear-position of a transmission. The shift lever 5 is arranged outside of a steering wheel 20 when viewed by a driver in a driver's seat and is arranged in an instrument panel 11 in an area R1 thereof above a central axis O of the steering wheel 20 so that the shift lever 5 protrudes toward the driver. An airbag device is provided at a central part of the steering wheel 20.
