PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modular plug capable of preventing plastic deformation of contact pins of a modular jack even if they are attached to the modular jack of the different number of electrodes by a simple and inexpensive constitution. SOLUTION: In the modular plug of the first number of poles (a modular plug 1 of six poles) equipped with a cabinet 2 and a slit 22 installed at the cabinet 2, when the modular plug 1 of six poles is inserted into a modular jack of the second number of poles (a modular jack of 8 poles) of which the number of poles is larger than the first number of poles in the cabinet 2, additional slits 23 are installed at a position corresponding to the contact pin which is not housed in the slit 22 out of a plurality of contact pins equipped at the modular jack of 8 poles.
