The circuit (A) has a sensor switch (3) outputting a signal indicating a certain charging state e.g. overcharging state, of a rechargeable battery (8) e.g. lithium ion battery, so that a battery charger (L) stops the charging of a consumer i.e. engine, or discharging of the battery. A connecting terminal (9) is accessible from the battery charger or consumer. A resistor (1) measures and specifies the certain charging state of the rechargeable battery for the battery charger or consumer at the connecting terminal from the outside.
