The hydraulic tensioning device (1) has a housing (2) with a cylinder and a piston running in the cylinder, a spring element arranged between the cylinder and the piston, and a pressure chamber and a reservoir. A supply drilling (15) leads to the reservoir opening on the housing side for supply of a hydraulic fluid from a hydraulic fluid supply. The pressure chamber includes a drain drilling (18) permitting escape of fluid from the pressure chamber opening next to the supply drilling and communicating with hydraulic supply in operation.
