PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor storage device improving the reliability and suppressing the deterioration of performance. SOLUTION: The semiconductor storage device includes an active memory and a spare memory and writes/reads data in accordance with request from an arithmetic unit. The semiconductor storage device includes: a fault detecting means for detecting a fault of the active memory; a request detecting means for detecting a request from the arithmetic unit to write/read data to/from the active memory or spare memory; and a memory alternation means for alternating an active memory area wherein the fault is detected by the fault detecting means, with a predetermined area of the spare memory in a timing corresponding to the detection result by the request detecting means.
