PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with a simple constitution for displaying background images of several frames in the case of changing background images in displaying an image on a part of the background image. SOLUTION: The image display device 500 is provided with a display means 40, a CGROM 42, GPU 43, a scaler 45, a frame buffer 46 and a control means 510. The control means 510 is provided with a background image transferring part 511, a window display image transferring part 512, a frame buffer control part 513 and a display control part 514. The frame buffer control part 513, when not updating a background image, writes and reads alternatively on each of two buffers of the frame buffer 46. When updating the background image, the control part 513 writes the background image and a window image to produce a composite image alternatively on each of the two buffers as for the read-only buffer and the write-only buffer.
