PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a medium by providing the medium with matter for providing identification information and prevent information by the matter for providing identification information from being stored permanently in the medium. SOLUTION: In a medium identification method for providing a medium for a particle-dispersed system comprising a dispersion medium and particles which are randomly dispersed in the dispersion medium and which contain a light-emitting substance which emits light by light irradiation, irradiating light to the medium, and using light emitted by the light-emitting matter for the identification of medium, the light-emitting substance to be used is decomposed and degraded by light irradiation.
