PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet loading device capable of detecting whether sheets loaded on a tray are all removed or not. SOLUTION: This sheet loading device includes the tray 3 provided on a sheet loading device body 20 free to elevate and on which the sheets discharged from the sheet loading device body 20 are loaded, an end fence 26 to be a matching standard of the sheets discharged on the tray 3, a sheet matching means 50 to match rear ends of the sheets discharged on the tray 3 with each other by making the rear ends of the sheets discharged on the tray 3 contact with the end fence 26, a sheet surface detection means 40 to detect an upper surface of the tray 3 or a sheet surface of the sheet to be at the top level loaded on the tray 3 and a control means to control the tray 3 to move to elevate in accordance with a detection result of the sheet surface detection means 40, and it is also provided with a sheet detection means 60 mounted on the sheet loading device body 20 in a state to avoid the tray 3 which moves to elevate to an initial position and to detect existence of the sheets loaded on the tray 3.
