HYDROPHILIZATION OF PERMEABLE HYDROPHOBIC POLYMER MEMBRANES

There is disclosed a process of hydrophilizing a hydrophobic polymer. The process includes the step of graft polymerizing a hydrophilic monomer solution while in contact with the permeable polymer membrane. The permeable polymer membrane has peroxide groups along its polymer chains. The graft polymerizing is undertaken under conditions that prevents substantial reduction of the pore diameter of the membrane to ensure that it remains permeable.
