Manufacture of hardened sheet metal part (1) includes cutting a blank (2) of steel alloy having carbon content of 0.15-0.3 wt.% to form a region (5) defined by cutting edge(s) (4) having a cutting depth less than blank thickness, hot-forming the blank and allowing blank area(s) to harden, and pushing out the cutting region along the cutting edges.
